Opening a Distillery

The fun part

The Alberta Craft Distillers Association is a member based organization formed to further the interests of established Alberta Craft Distilleries.  The more high quality distilleries that open in Alberta the better known great Alberta spirits will be.

A distillery may contain undue hazards if designed or operated improperly, as a result there are significant legislative requirements that must be met when opening a distillery. Each potential applicant must be prepared to do their own research which ACDA is unable to assist with. It is extremely important to understand the legislation, regulations, and policy directives which govern the distilling industry in Canada and Alberta.

A general overview of the process of opening a distillery and the legislative bodies that govern and regulate the distilling industry are contained below, but in no way represent a comprehensive or complete description of the process of opening and operating a distillery.  Due diligence is required of any person involved in the process of opening or operating a distillery.
